Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research (OBXCDR)

OBXCDR Mission Statement (www.obxdolphins.org): 

“The Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research is a 501 c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of bottlenose dolphins in the Outer Banks through research and education.”

As a research assistant and board member (Volunteer Coordinator) for OBXCDR, I contribute to Jessica Taylor’s photo-identification study of the bottlenose dolphins of the northern Outer Banks.  My work includes:

• Surface photography for photo-identification
• Behavioral and environmental data collection
• FinBase data entry
• Boat handling
• Email correspondence with OBXCDR volunteers
• Newsletter drafting and publication
• Educating the public about research during outreach events
